FCUCC Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir at FCUCC is a fun and talented group of musicians who normally meet on Wednesday Nights from 6:30-8:00 p.m. for rehearsals and sing weekly at church services and special holiday events.
The choir sings a wide range of spirituals, hymns, and even some Broadway tunes with a few Gregorian chants and familiar melodies from a range of church backgrounds thrown in to keep things interesting!. We currently have between 12-15 members with a wide range of musical experiences, from folks who don’t read music to folks who sing with the Asheville Symphony Chorus and Chamber Chorus - so all levels of musicianship are welcome! We also welcome folks of all ages, ranging from High School to Retirement too! Many of the members play various instruments as well and are also members of the Handbell Choir. The choir frequently sings with members of the congregation who play guitar or violin. There is often a percussion section from a large range of tambourines, bells, and drums available for just the right pieces!
Normally the choir takes the Summer off from rehearsals and singing for services from late Spring to early Fall to accommodate family vacations and Summer festivities.
If you would like to participate, there are no auditions, just come and join us when rehearsals begin again and be ready for a fun and educational evening. There’s not a better way to meet some really amazing members of the congregation and have fun creating some great music together at the same time!!
