During the month of April 2022, the Oak Street Gallery will feature a unique photographic exhibit by one of our long-time members, Carol Duin.

For the past year, Carol has been inspired by pictures in the newspapers, both local and national, and has worked daily, to cut them out of the newspapers and create individual collages.  What makes this process really impactful, is that she has hung the collages in the Oak Street Gallery, covering the walls from floor to ceiling in some cases, giving it the illusion of a photographic year-in-review painting.

With over 1,500 pictures included in this exhibit, it is an epic and
beautiful feast for the eyes.

A native of the small farming community of Quincy, WA, Carol has lived in Asheville for the past 22 years with her husband, Spencer, who was integral in setting up the exhibit.  Carol’s artistic talents have been displayed in the gallery before, as she is also a painter, using the acrylic medium, and has been responsible for helping to bring new exhibits to the gallery each month for many years.

See the Mountain Express write-up about
Carol's exhibit from their April 20, 2022 issue.
