Opportunities for Adults

Book Group — We have a book group entitled "Novel Approaches to God" which meets monthly, on a Thursday evening, to discuss a contemporary work of fiction selected by the group. All are welcome to join the book group, which meets in the foyer on the 2nd floor of the Education Building. This group is led by Joyce Rhymer.

Crazy Cooks — If you like to cook (or just to play), come join the crazy cooks in our church kitchen as they whip up a solid supply of delicious meals ready to go out to those in need, and have a blast doing it! Cooking parties are occasionally held in the church kitchen to prepare and freeze meals. Neither skill nor experience is necessary but a sense of humor is a must! Dates and times for the group are posted in the newsletter. To join the fun, contact Donna Jacobs.

Grief Support Group — To help individuals through the most difficult times in our lives, this group meets on an as-needed basis for 6-8 week periods. For more information, contact Rev. Joe Hoffman.

Lenten Series — Each year during the Lenten season we offer a weekly, evening educational series focused upon a particular theme or issue. The series often begins with a simple meal and includes guest speakers. Dates will be announced in the newsletter.

Office Volunteers — Volunteers are often needed to keep the church office running smoothly. Whether you can help with an occasional mailing or commit to a regular schedule to answer phones or do data entry, the office is a lively and fun place to help out. For more information, contact Administrative Assistant Judy Slater at the church office.

Piecemakers — Piecemakers is a group that meets on Wednesday evenings in the Library from 5:00–7:00pm to share in each other’s lives by talking together over handwork, such as knitting, sewing, crocheting, and drawing. Occasionally they participate in group projects, such as church banner-making. For more information, contact Janet Stephens, Peggy Hester, or Pam Clarkson.

Winter Dinners The Winter Dinners, sponsored by the Deacons, offer an opportunity each year for church members and friends to gather in each other’s homes for a meal and fellowship. More information will be available in bulletins and emails.

Other opportunities for volunteering include participating on one of the Committees or Boards listed on the Organization Page, or as special events or activities are announced in the Bulletin or Weekly Emails.
