"The stewardship question is not really how much will we give. The stewardship question is how we spend what we have been given."
– Ann Weems
"Take it from me. I went down the road of ‘be all you can be, realize your dreams’, and I’m telling you that fame and fortune are not what they’re cracked up to be. We live in a society that seems to value only physical things, only ephemeral things. People will do anything to get on these reality shows and talent contests on TV. We’re obsessed." – Madonna
68% of churchgoers say "money is one thing; morals and values are completely separate" - North American Religious Giving Study 1994 – Robert Wuthnow
"Perhaps the moral ambiguity of money is most plainly evidenced in the popular belief that money in itself has value and that the worth of other things or of men is somehow measured in monetary terms, rather then the other way around." – William Stringfellow
"Even if we were not sinful by nature, the sin of having private property would suffice to condemn us before God; for that which he gives us freely, we appropriate to ourselves."
– Ulrich Zwingli

At FCUCC "Stewardship" is understood as what one does after one says they believe. We are stewards of 7 T’s –– Time, Treasure, Talents, Trash, Tissue, Tradition & Training.
The Stewardship committee is responsible to nurture the congregation to be faithful Christian stewards – And has specific responsibilities for assisting members and the congregation in their personal and institutional financial stewardship of/for God’s mission. Within the community of faith these responsibilities include developing and overseeing a unified approach to inviting annual, capital and legacy gifts for the support of God’s mission.
