First Congregational United Church of Christ
About Us

About Us
We are located in downtown Asheville in an historic church built in 1926. The church features a grey stone exterior in the Gothic style with dark oak pews and intricate woodwork inside.

We are an informal church, so dress is casual.

We offer Sunday school classes for all ages and interests. Sunday school begins at 9:15 a.m., followed by Sunday morning service at 10:30 a.m.

Our sanctuary and Friendship Hall are accessible to the disabled. Designated handicapped parking is available in front of the church on Sunday mornings.

We enjoy meeting guests and host a Friendship Time after Sunday morning church service.

We just completed a process in which we updated our vision and mission statements. Out of that process came these four guiding principles for our faith journey:

1.    To be a progressive, risk-taking Christian
       faith community,
2.    To be a spiritual community that follows the
way of Jesus as the Christ,
3.    To be open, welcome, and affirming to all, and
4.    To engage the wider world with acts of mercy,
       peace, grace, and justice.
